Here's a review of what took place in 2010.
The National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest®, known as the “National Finals of Fiddling” takes place in the air conditioned gymnasium at Weiser High School. The stage is in the round providing an intimate setting for viewing the competition and entertainment. The contestants may appear on stage facing whatever direction that suits their fancy. There are four large video screens above the stage allowing for a close up of the contestants. Reserved seating is located on the floor surrounding the stage and general admission is located in the bleachers.

MONDAY NIGHT
Monday night’s competition features the accomplished Adult Fiddle Championship Finals (ages 37 to 59). You won't want to miss the opportunity to see these skilled musicians challenge one another in hot fiddle combat. In addition, seven Twin Fiddle pairs will compete for a chance to be in the Twin Fiddling finals on Thursday night and of course Certified State and Regional Winners Showcase as well as fabulous entertainment will round out the evening program. |

TUESDAY NIGHT
Tuesday night’s finals bring out the endearing competitors and are considered the “darlings” of fiddle contest: Small Fry (under 9 years) and Junior Junior (under 13 years), however, don’t be fooled by their sweet little faces and half-pint size. They can play a mean fiddle and are destined to be in line to be the Grand National Champion in the future. Again, special entertainment and Certified State and Regional Showcase winners will be featured. An additional seven pair of Twin Fiddlers will compete for the opportunity to compete in the Twin Fiddling finals on Thursday night.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Wednesday night the Junior division’s (under 18) final battle is fierce. These entrants are now dedicated to their craft and it shows. The desire to win within this division is intense. Years of dedication is demonstrated through their high energy performances. A third night of Certified State and Regional Showcase is on tap as well as seven Twin Fiddling pairs will compete for the chance to be in the Thursday night finals much to the delight of the audience.

THURSDAY NIGHT
Thursday is Senior (60-69) and Senior Senior (70 and over) division finals as well as the much anticipated Twin Fiddling finals. This playful evening boasts the culmination of years and years of experience, dedication and style. Senior players are seasoned and established and play the “oldtime” tunes with the passion that comes from their lifelong love of fiddling. Of course special entertainment will be in store as well.

FRIDAY NIGHT
Friday hosts Young Adult competition (18-36) and round four of the Grand National Champion rounds. As they continue to explore their technique, competition is heated. Often these opponents are established contest fiddlers who have been rivals for many years making the action witty and engaging.

SATURDAY NIGHT
Saturday provides a unique opportunity to see the best of the best fiddlers in the country compete in the open division for the prestigious title of Grand National Champion. The final round is in a round robin format and will have non-sequestered judges seated near the stage watching the fiddler’s performance as well as hearing the quality of their fiddling. The scores of all the rounds are cumulative creating an even more electrifying competition. The winner is awarded the coveted Grand National Champion bronze trophy, signature embroidered jacket and cash prize! And Saturday evening’s entertainment would not be complete without the awe inspiring crowd favorite, fiddling phenomenon Alex DePue and guitarist extraordinaire Miguel De Hoyos.

The stage is in the round and the contestants have the option of facing any of the four sides that are open. There are four large video screens above the stage. You will be able to view the contestants up close. Reserved seating is located on the floor circling the stage and general admission in the bleachers.
Ticket orders are taken on a first-come first-serve basis. We do our best to accommodate seating requests. Some nights sell out quickly. Order your tickets early.
DAY TICKETS can be purchased at the door for only $2.50 for adults and $1.50 for children 12 and under. Day tickets are valid from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on the day of purchase, Monday thru Friday.
NIGHT TICKETS can be ordered by printing a ticket order form from the menu above or by calling 208-414-0255. Doors open at 6:30, Monday thru Friday and 6:00 pm on Saturday.
GENERAL ADMISSION bleacher seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. On Monday and Tuesday all seating is sold as general admission.
RESERVED SEATING is available Wednesday through Saturday evenings. Reserved seating is located on the floor circling the stage.
PASSES for family and weekly, and group discounts can be obtained by calling the National Oldtime Fiddlers' Office at 208-414-0255.
SENIOR DAY is Thursday. Guests 60 years and older get free admission for the daytime competition which runs from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
NO REFUNDS after tickets have been paid for.
PURCHASING TICKETS can be done three ways.
- Print the order form and mail with a check or Visa or MasterCard information.
- Call 208-414-0255 to place your order.
- Purchase your tickets at the door. (subject to availability)
RECEIVING TICKETS
- Ticket orders received by June 5, 2010 can be mailed to you in advance. Make sure to include the $2.00 shipping and handling fee.
- "Will Call" are picked up at the Contest Site. Orders received after June 5, 2010 will only be available at the "Will Call" window.
